Wood conservation

Wood conservation can simply be related to old buildings which draws in the skills of building experts, wood preservation, damp control, carpenters, wood carvers and more.

Works of art requiring conservation may be related to furniture, pictures, carvings and similar. In these cases wood science is required in the use of adhesives, consolidants and finishers.

Better known large scale wood conservation challenges are the historic ships such as Vasa in Stockholm, Mary Rose in Portsmouth and the Dover Bronze Age Boat.
