Practical Roll Pass Design

The Hot Rolling & Roll Pass Design of Steel Sections

The course will identify steel products that are classified as Hot Rolled Sections and go on to describe the most common processes for their manufacture. The individual modules will explain how to construct the Roll Pass Designs for different groups of sections and some of the common practical challenges and solutions associated with their production.

Who is the course aimed at?

The course is aimed at:

  • Operators, supervisors, managers of hot rolling mills
  • Roll Pass Designers – to broaden their know-how
  • Interested academics
  • Anyone wanting to expand their industrial knowledge

What are the course requirements?

The following competencies will be assumed during the course.

  • Basic technical drawing – for example 2 Dimensional AutoCAD.
  • Basic understanding of ferrous metallurgy
  • The ability to use of simple spreadsheet functions -Excel will be used to demonstrate calculations

What is the course structure?

The course will run in eight, one hour online sessions. The first will be a FREE webinar to place the course in it’s industrial context and outline the structure and learning points in detail.

The sessions are therefore as follows:

Introduction to Section Mills & Roll Pass Design

This is the FREE session to give you an insight to the full course and if you are watching it live you can ask questions about any aspect of the full series
