Fellow (FIMMM)

Fellow or Fellowship, FIMMM, is the Institute's most prestigious grade and is recognition for those who have made a significant contribution or established a record of achievement in the materials, minerals, mining fields or other disciplines within the technical outreach of the the Institute. Application for Fellow is open to both existing members and those not already in membership. 

The Fellow grade can be applied for as a standalone grade or with Competent Person Registration (CPR) from the Engineering Council (as a CEng, IEng or EngTech); the Science Council (as a CSci, RSci or RSciTech); or with the Society for the Environment (as a CEnv). If CPR is also being sought, the applicant will need to satsify the academic, experience, competency and Institute requirements for the level of registration.

Making an application

Membership Application Form
All applicants are required to submit a completed application form in addition to the documentation detailed in the guide.

The type of application form that needs to be completed will depend on whether the applicant is already a member of IOM3 or not, and if they also wish to apply concurrently for CPR. Further details are given in the guide and each of the forms can be downloaded from this page.

Referee support
Applications must be supported by two referees who should normally be FIMMM or Fellow of a professional body, and ideally have known the applicant for 2 years.

Minerals Reporting

Those who wish to be recognised by the Institute for the purposes of Minerals Reporting should contact the Membership Department for futher details. The process for recognition will require an interview.
