Time Dependent Behaviour of Rubber
An afternoon discussion on the behaviour of elastomers has been organised for 22 June by the Rubber in Engineering Committee of IOM3. The event will be held at 1 Carlton House Terrace from 2pm onwards.
The first of three presentations will explore the practical aspects of creep and stress relaxation. Examining seal failure and the conditions that influence rates of relaxation, it will consider the real-world measurement of loss of seal force. Long-term stress relaxation will be approached from the testing angle in the second talk, including a method that uses short time-frame testing. The final paper seeks to predict the change in stiffness of elastomers under cyclic loading, and will also examine stress softening in elastomer compounds.
The meeting is free for IOM3 members; non-members may be charged a small fee. A full programme is available online here. Places must be reserved in advance by contacting Roly Whear, Jaguar Cars Ltd, 53G2/4 Banbury Road, Gaydon, Warks, CV33 0RR. Tel: +44 (0)1926 645543. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Please provide your full contact details, including company, telephone number, and postal and email address.
