White Rose Nanotechnology Workshop

The Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology Group of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining is organising a Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology workshop on Monday 10 July at the University of Sheffield. This workshop is part of a series which aims to develop synergistic links between universities and local industry. The workshop is aimed at both current and future nanotechnology users, covering the latest exciting developments in the areas of nanomanufacturing, nanofunctional devices, nanostructured biomaterials, and nanocharacterisation techniques.

Important topics will be highlighted in keynote presentations from the three White Rose Universities (Sheffield, York & Leeds) including:

  • Dr M Hopkinson (Sheffield) : Self-assembled quantum dots
  • Dr I D’Amico (York) : Computational nanoelectronics
  • Prof G Leggett (Sheffield) : Photolithography Beyond the Diffraction Limit
  • Dr D Allwood (Sheffield) : Magnetic nanowires
  • Dr B Battaglia (Sheffield) : Engineering nanostructures inspired from nature
  • Dr S Harris (Leeds) : DNA modelling
  • Prof R Bydson (Leeds) : EELS of nanomaterials
  • Prof K O’Grady (York) : York-JEOL centre of electron microscopy
  • Dr B Inkson (Sheffield) : In-situ TEM testing of nanomaterials
Abstracts for poster contributions are invited.
Abstract and registration deadline: Friday 30th June 2006
