Launch of Materials KTN and Smart Materials Network

The Science and Innovation Minister, Lord Sainsbury, recently announced the development of a new business support initiative relating to Knowledge Transfer Networks (KTN). The Materials KTN will embrace the activities of a number of existing networks including the Faradays of Advance, Packaging, Plastics, Powdermatrix, TechniTex, the National Composites Network and a new network involving Smart Materials, Surfaces and Structures. The KTN will build upon these activities to develop a one-stop shop for advice and support in the development, manufacture and use of materials.

The Materials KTN and the New Smart Materials Network will be officially launched at the Science Museum on Thursday 19 January 2006, with a keynote speech by Lord Sainsbury.
