Green Light for IoPack Merger

Members of the Institute of Packaging voted overwhelmingly in favour of a merger with the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, at their EGM held on Monday 24 January. The merger with the Institute of Packaging was also approved to proceed by the IOM3 Council at a meeting later on the same day. The Institute aims to complete all elements of the merger by April.

One of the actions needed to effect the merger is the election of a new board to manage the Institutešs packaging activities. IoP ­ The Packaging Society - will initially have a board comprising ten members from each of the two institutes. The IOM3 Packaging Division is requesting nominations to the board both from existing division members and from the broader membership. A Nominations Committee has been convened under the Chairmanship of Mr Barry Haworth, the current chairman of the IOM3 Packaging Division. Current members of the Institute with an interest in developing future packaging activities should submit nominations in the first instance to Bernie Rickinson ( The closing date for receipt of nominations is Friday 25 February 2005.
