The International Mining and Minerals Association and PERC Code to be launched
On 17 June at 1 Carlton House Terrace, IOM3 will introduce two innovations for the mining industry – the International Mining and Minerals Association (IMMa) and the Pan European Reserves and Resources Reporting Committee (PERC) Code. The joint launch event will include the Annual Prestige Lecture.
The Association brings together the Institute’s four resources divisions, the Applied Earth Science, Mineral Processing and Extractive Metallurgy, Mining Technology, and Petroleum and Drilling Divisions, to represent minerals professionals in the UK.
The Reporting Committee was established in 2006 to update the former IMM (Institution of Mining and Metallurgy) Reporting Code, which sought to standardise definitions for mineral and exploration reporting. The Committee has since drawn up a new Code, which will be unveiled at this event. The Association is the senior ‘sponsor’ of the PERC, along with the Geological Society, the European Federation of Geologists, and the Institute of Geologists of Ireland.
The Annual Prestige Lecture is organised by IMMa and the MinSouth local society. John McGagh, Head of Innovation at Rio Tinto, will present ‘The Mine of the Future’, covering the company’s advances in mining by remote control in the Pilbara of Western Australia. A buffet reception will follow.
The free afternoon events are open to all, but tickets must be reserved. To attend, contact Frances Perry, tel: +44 (0)20 7451 7324.
