On site learning for packaging professionals
A limited number of places are available on the IOP Diploma in Packaging Technology course. Starting in October 2007, the on site courses in the Midlands, and south and north of England are still open for bookings.
The Diploma in Packaging Technology is acknowledged to be the premier degree level qualification for packaging professionals, recognising the high standards of knowledge and skill required in an extremely specialised industry.
The Diploma provides delegates with a broad knowledge of the principles, materials, processes and other elements of packaging production and use. Course graduates will be able to solve problems and make decisions associated with the technical and aesthetic performance, costs, safety and legality of materials and packed products. They will be well placed to take responsibility for packaging at any point in the supply chain. Students also gain an entry qualification for the MSc in Packaging Technology at the University of Loughborough and Brunel University.
Until recently most of the classroom-based teaching was held in Grantham. To meet demand, the course is now available on site in the north and south of England, the Midlands, and Wales. The Diploma is taught over three consecutive days per month for five months, and comprises five units: The Fundamental Principles of Packaging, Packaging Materials and Components I and II, Packaging Processes, and Managing Packaging Development.
We ask that all participating students approach their company to sponsor one, or part, of the months, by allowing the course to be held on their premises and organising a factory tour, so that theory and practice are combined. This has been proven to increase the pass rate.
The Diploma is awarded by the Packaging Industry Awarding Body Company (PIABC) and approved by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority. It is included in the Government’s National Qualifications Framework. The course costs £2200+VAT, which includes examination fees. Discounts are available for company groups.
