Final call for Materials Congress 2004

The Institute has issued a final call for papers for its Materials Congress 2004, to be held in London on 30 March to 1 April 2004. The event will consist of a series of one-day symposia covering a wealth of topics in materials, as well as a lively supporting programme. Oral and poster papers on the following themes are currently being invited:
  • Wide-band gap semi-conductors
  • Surface engineering
  • Materials for smart systems
  • Biomaterials and tissue engineering
  • Platinum group elements and the environment
  • Sustainable power generation
  • Polymer science & processing: in process measurement
  • Nanomagnetism and nanomagnetic materials
  • Neutron Scattering & materials science
  • Multifunctional & structural composites, nano-composites
  • Energy efficient automotive vehicles
  • Packaging materials: new polymers, smart materials, waste management
  • The packaging of electronic devices
  • Mineral reserves & resources: reporting, estimation, reconnaissance & exploration
  • Self-organised liquid crystal semiconductors
  • Technological advances in light metals (Al, Mg & Ti)
  • Processing & characterisation of advanced ceramics
  • Refractory minerals - location, extraction, processing and uses
