Structural Integrity, A Principal Researcher is required to provide expertise and a service in fracture
analysis and behaviour of materials both to Corus businesses and external customers alike. You will
be responsible for leading projects related to fracture, fatigue and structural integrity and will have a
materials science/metallurgy or mechanical engineering degree with substantial experience in steel
research. Familiarity with fracture mechanics is required and knowledge of structural steel metallurgy
and/or welding would be beneficial, but not essential.
Welding A Researcher is required to develop cost-effective joining solutions for Corus products and
processes. You will lead projects to evaluate and develop welded steel properties for a wide variety
of products, including laser welded steel sheets and off-site manufactured buildings. You will hold a
degree in an appropriate technical discipline and have experience of welding, joining, and cutting.
Knowledge of welding metallurgy and processes together with the ability to design and manufacture
prototypes is preferred, but not essential.
Both positions require an innovator with strong communication skills who actively seeks responsibility
and can demonstrate enthusiasm for team working. The ability to define, lead and progress large and
small projects using clear and concise reporting and presentation skills is also required.
