Materials Research Engineer - Research & Development
We are looking to recruit a dynamic, self motivated, degree qualified Materials Scientist or Materials Engineer to carry out research and evaluation of new materials.
The position will report directly to the Group Lead - Research & Development. The candidate will have the ability to communicate on all levels, to lead and be a member of cross functional teams supporting internal or external programs and reporting the findings of the research activities in order to commence full scale qualification. This will require development of detailed work package plans and resource schedules to feed into high level materials development project plans and co-ordinating test programs with internal test facilities and external test houses.
Other functions include writing technical papers and publications to present materials or product development solutions, supporting patent assessments and filing opportunities and representing the company at relevant industry forums such as JIPs, seminars, conferences and specification bodies.
The candidates should have a background in research & development or scientific research, preferably in the fields of metals and composites, demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to work within a team environment. Good organisational skills with the ability to directly inform and instruct Engineers, Technicians and other employees of specific technical, engineering and HSEQ requirements.
Metals Engineer - Materials Engineering
We are looking to attract a dynamic, self motivated, degree qualified Metallurgist, Materials Engineer or Materials Scientist to carry out the qualification of materials to the relevant industry standards plus technical support activities in support of Engineering Projects, Manufacturing and Supply Chain.
The position will report directly to the Group Lead - Materials Engineering.
The candidate will have the ability to communicate on all levels, to lead and be a member of cross functional teams supporting internal or external programs. The Metals Engineer will be required to generate qualification specifications, and qualification reports for IVA approval for the use of materials within a pipe structure. This will require a high level of planning to co-ordinate the internal test and trials activities and the testing programmes both in house and with external test houses. In addition the Metals Engineer will be required to respond to materials technology queries and clarifications and carry out investigations, analysis and reporting of product and process failures.
The candidates should have a background in research & development and/or technical support, with experience of metal processing, forming and welding processes, be able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to work within a team environment. Good organisational skills with the ability to directly inform and instruct Engineers, Technicians and other employees of specific technical, engineering and HSEQ requirements. Experience of materials selection, testing, screening and validation would advantageous.
