James Aubrey Robson graduated from Newcastle University in 1990, with an honours degree in Mining Engineering. His first job was with Cementation as a site engineer on the Pen-y-clip tunnel in North Wales. Upon completion of the tunnelling works he worked with Soil Instruments Ltd as an instrumentation engineer. From 1993 he worked for London Underground Ltd as an engineer on the Jubilee Line Extension Project, the tunnels from Canada Water to Canary Wharf. He became a Member of the Institute and Chartered Engineer in 1995. In 1996 he accepted a role as Project Manager for Ellis & Buckle dealing mainly with subsidence claims. In 2000 he moved to Royal & SunAlliance, becoming the Regional Engineer and managing a large team of Chartered Engineers and Surveyors. He became a Chartered Scientist in 2005 and was the Managing Director of Aubrey Robson & Reeves Consulting Ltd, an engineering and insurance SME, until August 06 when he was appointed Associate Director of Capita Symonds.
