Construction Materials for a Changing World
Wednesday 14 May 2008
I am delighted to invite you to attend Materials Congress 2008 and to submit a paper to the symposium on ‘Construction Materials for a Changing World’. Internationally recognised keynote speakers will be complemented by contributed oral and poster presentations.
Dr John Morlidge
Associate Director – Materials Technology
Building Technology Group, Building Research Establishment
The construction industry is a major user and supplier of materials accounting for at least one third of all the materials produced in the UK (currently estimated to be a £200bn turnover industry employing around 4 million people). As such, the theme of the symposium will align with the growing need for construction materials to constantly evolve to meet ever increasing demands in performance and sustainability. Materials are required to deliver increased functionality, be easy to maintain, reuse and recycle whilst requiring less energy to manufacture and must have minimum impact on the environment as a whole.
I do hope that you can accept our invitation, and we look forward to receiving your abstract shortly.
